Ovaettr (oh-vay-tur) AKA Orion Fern is a trans & queer award-winning illustrator & motion designer. They love to share their passion for creativity with the world & help people bring their ideas to life!
['Ovaettr' means 'MONSTER' in Old Norse!] Pronouns for public use are he/him or they/them. Within trans or trans friendly spaces, xe/xyr/xem neopronouns are my favorite.
Bachelor's of the Fine Arts degree in Media Arts and Animation, and a focus in Motion Graphic Design & Character Design. Freelancing with his business Ovaettr Art (est. 2017) - they work with a varied and vibrant clientele from streamers to personal art collectors. They seek contract or studio work in motion design. Xe is also seeking out illustration, character design, comics, 2D animation, and conceptual art career opportunities. From 2021-2023 taught as an arts educator part time online, teaching comics, cartooning, and hand-drawn 2D animation to mixed groups from grades 4th - 8th on the weekends via Zoom. He is now developing educational art classes that will be available in January of 2025 through this website. They will be covering comics, character design and more! Orion is an advocate and activist for LGBTQ+ rights because Orion is trans & queer. Helps in multiple places including donating to and volunteering with Equality Texas. In 2021-2022 completed the Equality Fellows Program to become a more well-equipped leader in their community. Zinester and incredibly enthusiastic about small press media. Loves helping people learn how to make their own zines! Donor of educational books or zines in local little free libraries in Denton, TX. Supporter of local arts in #DentonTX and beyond! Has successfully helped multiple organizations and individual LGBTQ+ community members directly with The Hachikrew. Supports their community in any way he can via mutual aid. Participated in the The Dallas Way: Faces of LGBTQ+ History, Art & Archive Exhibit with a self-portrait seen below. The event was hosted at the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery - El Centro Dallas College location between 9/20/2022 and 10/7/2022. As of June 26th 2023, is one of the 2023 Greater Denton Arts Council Micro-Grant grantees. The grant will go towards printing costs for the first 100 copies of their debut comic titled "The Fox Who Became A Girl" which has digitally released as of June 29th 2024. The physical print comic released a little later on August 17th, 2024, printed by KENESS. It debuted at Grand Rapids Zine Fest 2024. It will be available in Denton independent bookstores this year. Participated in the square-d community art exhibit benefiting the UNT Food Pantry at the UNT CoLab with their piece entitled 'Queer Solidarity on the Square' in July of 2023. Volunteers with The Denton Water Project, which keeps the homeless community alive locally through free water coolers around Downtown. Accepting new volunteers ASAP! & always doing more new cool stuff! They will see you around town! <3 |
